How Do You Make Custom Art Work in Sims 4
Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk almost a way you tin make your Sims game experience unique and personal past using your screenshots as paintings.
Tools needed:
- Graphic editing program (photoshop, paintshop, gimp, etc)
- Gimp + DDS plugin
- Sims 4 Studio (S4S)
Footstep ane
Create a folder on your computer where you will exist keeping all your images for this projection.
Footstep two
Open up S4S and select "standalone recolor" under the object icon.
Pace 3
Search for paintings in the menu bar past typing in paint; for this tutorial nosotros volition be using the 1 I highlighted in the screenshot but you can use any size you want. Click the next button on the bottom right corner and characterization your package anything you desire.
Step four
Now you are going to extract your .dds image then you can utilise it equally a template for your screenshots from your game. Select the texture tab, highlight texture, and then click export. Name the texture anything you want.
Step 5
Subsequently extracting the .dds texture, you are going to open Gimp and convert that into a .png image so yous can edit it in your graphic programme. I am assuming that y'all practice not accept Photoshop CS and the DDS plugin installed; if you practise so skip this step. Begin by opening the prototype in Gimp, select OK when it asks y'all if you lot want to load DDS. Under the file drop down menu, you lot are going to select "export as". Go downwardly to where it says "select file type (by extension)" so scroll down till yous notice .png. Select export and brand sure you lot alter the compression level to zero. Leaving information technology at 9 will make your image grainy looking. Click on export in the popup bill of fare.
Step 6
Now comes the fun part! Load the image y'all just converted into your graphics programme and also load your favorite screens. You will exist copy/pasting these over the EA paradigm. You may need to practise some ingather work and resizing to become it just right.
These are the stop results of the screens I chose for this tutorial. Notice that I did not cover the edges with images, I left those as is.
Stride vii
At present you are going to load these back into S4S so they will show up in your game. Open up up the package in S4S and select the texture tab. This fourth dimension y'all volition be choosing import. A popup will appear and you select the image you want. Then select the open up push. To add together more images, click the add swatch on the top right corner. You can as well delete images by highlighting it and then clicking the remove swatch push button. The more swatches you add together, the larger the file becomes. So, try to keep them betwixt 10 – fifteen. Also, just for diversity make sure you use different size paintings. Once you are finished adding your swatches, click salvage and you are washed. Now all that is left for you to do is exam it out in your game.
Step 8
Examination it out in game and brand sure it's what y'all wanted. You may need to practise some editing till yous go used to where the edges of the paintings should be. These are some that I have washed. Pretty absurd, right? Since the photography skill doesn't allow you to accept actual family photos this is an easy way for you to phase your Sims (including that baby that tin't be taken to the studio) so hang their family unit portrait on your Sims walls. Equally you can see from the last screen, this method can be used to change your paintings and posters as well.
